I have been meaning to write for quite some time about how I can honestly say that my own healing journey has changed my life in the most positive and wonderful ways. I wouldn’t be where I am now doing what I do if I hadn’t embarked on this journey, which is why I love – and am so passionate about – holding space for others, assisting them on their journeys.
So, how and why do I believe healing will assist others? I invite you to pause, make yourself a warm drink and then allow yourself to sink into reading on…
How Energy Works
We are energetic beings, even though we may not always feel as though we are. We are made up of physical matter, our physical bodies and energy. Within the physical body, we have a central column of energy through which our energy flows, and from this central column, we have seven energy centres known as ‘chakras.’
Our chakras are designed to spin in order to circulate and move the energy through our physical bodies and through our energy fields. The flow of energy through these energy centres can become slow and stagnant; when this happens, our chakras cannot spin in accordance with their fullest natural potential. When this situation occurs, energy can become stuck within the body, clogging the flow of energy through individual chakras, through our physical bodies and through our energy fields. It’s a little like a domino effect in that sense.
How Our Experiences Affect Our Energy
Everything that we experience filters through our energy fields, through our physical bodies by way of our thoughts, our emotions, learnt behaviours and limiting beliefs. When we don’t want to feel our feelings, we tend to suppress them and they become buried within the physical body – they effectively get stuck. These buried thoughts and feelings clog up the energy system, creating density within the flow of our energy and compromising the energy flowing through our chakras.
Every external experience creates an emotional response that moves through our energy fields, through our physical bodies and our chakras. Through many of our cultures and through our collective consciousness, we have been taught to avoid or suppress feeling our feelings and this has an energetic impact on the physical body and the way we live our lives. As I mentioned above, when we do this the emotions tend to get trapped within our physical bodies, initially becoming stuck within our chakras and if left unattended for long periods of time, these trapped emotions move into our muscles, into our organs and ultimately create dis-ease within our bodies.
Joyful experiences raise our vibration and our energy flow, while painful experiences slow our vibration right down, creating a density that slows down this energy flow. As these dense energies become blockages within the physical body, it becomes more difficult for us to let them go and to move them through our energy systems to release them, and so we may need to seek help from a professional.
Experiences such as trauma or abuse can cause emotions such as fear, stress, anxiety, guilt, neglect and feeling ‘unclean’ to become stuck in the human body. These are dense emotions and as you might imagine, they do not flow through our energy systems with ease. However, positive emotions such as love, joy and laughter are lighter and move through the body with ease; they feel good, which is why this graceful and easeful movement flows.
The Role of the Energy Healing Practitioner
When you are receiving healing, the aim of the practitioner is to raise your vibration, thereby assisting you to have a conscious awareness of your feelings and emotions. This in turn enables you to make confident choices and life begins to flow in positive and wonderful ways. The practitioner is channelling a higher frequency energy to help shift the stagnant energy that’s accumulated, removing trauma, which in turn assists you with elevating your vibration. Overall, the experience is deeply soothing for the energy system.
As the body opens to receiving higher vibrational energy during a healing session, we begin to create flow once again. The stagnant and blocked energy is able to move through the body and be released, bringing your energy back into its natural flow state. It’s important to remember that the human body has a natural propensity to heal – sometimes we just need a helping hand.
The Importance of Experiencing Our Feelings
We all experience and process our emotions differently, but it is also important to remember that we do need to allow ourselves to experience and process them. It is okay to be upset and angry and as we acknowledge how we feel, as we feel our feelings and allow them to move through our energy fields, we are able to let them go. It is when we try to suppress them that they get stuck in the manner I’ve described above and this then begins to cause problems.
The more we deepen into our own healing journeys, the more our lives are filled with love, laughter, happiness and joy. The more practiced we become at feeling our feelings, the more adept we become at allowing heavier, more painful emotions to move through our energy fields with relative ease. Feeling our feelings and enabling them to move through our energy fields and out of our energy systems prevents disruption to our energy flow in the longer term.
Ultimately, energy is designed to move and flow. We have a huge range of emotions that we experience on a daily basis: sadness, anger, fear, frustration, anxiety, peace, love, compassion, joy, gratitude, fun and excitement, to name but a few. Addressing all of our feelings – good, bad, joyful or painful, is vital in order to prevent the denser emotions becoming stuck and creating lethargy, illness and disease. We want to be able to fully enjoy and embrace all of the positive emotions and the true wonder that life has to offer.
